Neglected cold water storage tanks are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria such as legionella to proliferate.
We have replaced many old, galvanised steel tanks that have not been properly maintained, with new pre-insulated GRP sectional tanks.

This ensures a fresh, clean, water supply to the building’s users, and also complies to current regulations.

Whilst it’s usually better to replace a cold water storage tank that’s in a really poor condition, it isn’t always feasible.

If required, we can scrape the corroded tank, clean it, and paint in a two-part epoxy paint which is specifically made for cold water storage tanks.

All tanks are disinfected in accordance with PD855468 before being put back online.

Hygiene Contracts also undertake TMV replacement/installs/servicing/disinfections.

A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is a device that blends the hot and cold water to a temperature that prevents the risk of scolding.

The HSE guidance identifies the following populations that are most vulnerable to injury, and where TMV’s should be considered –

  • Children
  • Older People
  • People with reduced mental capacity, mobility, or temperature sensitivity
  • People who cannot react appropriately or quickly  enough to prevent injury
